Reported on 30 June 2011 DATELINE - NEW PORT RICHEY, FLORIDA
A New Port Richey woman, Judy P. frantically called the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department to report a theft of a major artwork from her collection. The item allegedly stolen was a copy of Karren Doll Tolliver’s latest book, A Travel for Taste - Collected Czech Family Recipes. It was cleverly disguised as a shipment from Amazon.com.

Ms. P. stated that the package was on her doorstep on Thursday evening when she returned home from yet another day of gallivanting. She nimbly stepped over it on her way inside, burdened as she was with boxes and bags full of girlie items and art supplies from an all-day shopping trip.

Having to rest for about an hour after her exertions, Ms. P. emerged from her recliner to retrieve the package on the doorstep. To her dismay and chagrin, it was gone! It was at this point that the shaken Ms. P. dialed the emergency number of the sheriff’s department.

A deputy arrived at her doorstep in record time. Ms. P. related her harrowing experience as the deputy filled out an official report. A sheriff’s posse is now conducting a manhunt for the thief. It remains unclear whether the sheriff’s posse is mounted.

Said Ms. P., “If they knew what a great writer Karren is, there would be more missing cookbooks.”

Ms. P. subsequently sent an urgent email to the author begging for the link to Amazon.com where A Travel for Taste can be purchased online. The response email is alleged to have contained a link not only for the paperback but also for the eBook edition. The victim of the theft was so agitated that she ordered 10 more copies of the purloined book. The author urges all readers of this news report to do the same.

Anyone seeing a thug suspiciously cooking up authentic Czech goulash or any other traditional Czech recipe from A Travel for Taste should contact the Sheriff’s office immediately. Do not approach the suspect. He/she may be armed with kitchen knives or a spatula. He/she may also be drinking Czech beer.
