MLS title number five is a fact for the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Los Angeles Galaxy are masters of the MLS season in 2014. The finale against the New England Revolution won 2-1 after extra time. Gyasi Zardes gave the Galaxy the lead in the 52nd minute, but Chris Tierney equalized in 79 minutes despite the fact that the Galaxy had been the better team. This season’s MVP Award winner Robbie Keane decided the match in the 111th minute on a free position and the Galaxy is thus MLS champion for the fifth time. Landon Donovan had thus ending his career with a league title. On Sunday night played the 2014 MLS finals. Los Angeles Galaxy took the New England Revolution on StubHub Center just south of Los Angeles. Galaxy had to play the final on home turf as it finallag with the best basic series points.
The home team Los Angeles Galaxy made no changes compared to the semi-final against Seattle, where they went ahead after a total of 2-2 and score mo re goals away from home .. Jaime Penedo was Case back line from the right was from the start by AJ DeLaGarza, Omar Gonzalez, Leonardo and Robbie Rogers. In midfield from right started Stefan Ishizaki, Marcelo Sarvas, Juninho and career termination Landon Donovan. On top started the nykorade MVP laureate Robbie Keane and Gyasi Zardes. New England made a change in the starting line compared to the crucial semi-final against New York Red Bulls and that was that Kevin Alston, who played left back later, bench founded. Chris Tierney took his place at left-back and Kelyn Rowe took Tierney’s location to the left of the attack / midfield (depending on whether one believes that New England plays 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1). New England started with Bobby Shuttleworth in goal. Back line from the right was from the start by Andrew Farrell, AJ Soares, José Gonçalves and Chris Tierney. As a defensive midfielder started the Scott Caldwell and Jermaine Jones and above them began Teal Bunbury , Lee Nguyen and Kelyn Rowe. As a lone striker Charlie Davies started.
Galaxy took command right away and came close to taking the lead after just over a minute. Robbie Rogers hung from his left back spot and freed by Landon Donovan. He poked the ball on a Scot Caldwell who was to direct the ball into his own goal, but he managed to clear. New England had much more in chansväg in the first half than a Charlie Davies-finish that was covered perfectly by an admirably self-sacrificing AJ DeLaGarza.
Early in the second half shouted New England on penalties after that Lee Nguyen mown down from behind in the penalty area by Juninho, but the judge acquitted. Instead, the Galaxy took the lead shortly afterwards when a Stefan Ishizaki-right ruled until Gyasi Zardes at the far end of the penalty area and he pounded into 1-0 in the far corner. It was his first league goal since the end of September. New England felt uddlösa but managed the equalizer with just over ten minutes left of normal time. Substitute Patrick Mullins ran on a long ball and managed to get into the penalty area and fit up Chris Tierney. He got past Leonardo and placed in perfectly with 1-1 off the far post. Just a few minutes later struck Teal Bunbury a post that hit the crossbar and Jaime Penedo was completely gone in this situation. 1-1 was the regular time out and the match went into extra time. Galaxy had, moreover, in the second half had spent burning a neutral position by Robbie Keane and Keane h ad also ruined a potentially neutral for Donovan when he took the ball in the offside position when Donovan was coming through.
Jermaine Jones tested a left-foot shot from the penalty line that went just wide Penedos left post and Patrick Mullins fired a low shot pushed the half-volley from severe angle Penedo forced into a save from. Instead ran Robbie Keane through in the 111th minute to pass from Marcelo Sarvas and took revenge for his missed neutral in the second half. Chris Tierney overturned offsides on Keane and MVP laureate placed the safety of any set 2-1. Tierney’s inability to be in line with other defensive line became fatal for Keane’s 2-1 goal meant victory for the Galaxy. Thus, the MLS champions for the fifth time, which means that they have the most league titles of all MLS teams, while New England now has five final losses on their conscience. What this also means is that Landon Donovan had to finish his amazing career with a league title. This was the league title number six for Donovan, which, like much of Donovan is the best in MLS history
